The photograph was taken from the top of Maungra Terevaka, the largest volcanic
cone on Easter Island. In the distance can be seen the Poike Peninsula where
the Poike Ditch is located. The Poike Ditch is where the defunct legend of the
“Short Ears” tricking the “Long Ears” into a burning ditch was supposed to have
taken place.
