The sun was setting behind the Tahai Complex on the west side of Easter Island
when I took this photograph. The Tahai Complex is huge with three separate ahu,
two of which an be seen in this photograph. In addition to the moai and ahu
there are canoe ramps, a wharf, caves, ceremonial stone circles and many other
relics in the area. In all, the Tahai Complex extends from the edge of the sea
to a distance of two miles inland. The complex was restored by Mulloy in 1968
and he was buried there when he died in 1978.
