Easter Island

The Traveling Moai

The moai in this photograph is called the Traveling Moai because it has been taken to Japan for an exhibit and it was used by Thor Heyerdahl as part of an experiment to try to learn how the islanders moved the moai from the quarry to where they are now located. If you look closely, you can see that the moai sports a goatee on its face.
