Nyhavn is the name of a canal in downtown
Copenhagen, Denmark. The colorful, eighteenth
century houses on the side of the canal
are quite picturesque and Hans Christian
Anderson lived in several of the houses
as different times in his life.
During the summer months,
the canal becomes a favorite place for
Danes and tourists alike to sit and to
linger over a cold beer. The first floors
of the buildings are crammed with restaurants
which spill out onto the walkway during
the summer months. Don't miss the buffets
of pickled herring or try the smørrebrød
the idea of fish is not appealing. The railing
along the canal is another favorite place
to sit with friends to chat and to enjoy
the sites. |
