Morning Glow, Liechtenstein

Liechtenstein is a principality which is a sovereign state whose monarch is a prince. The Principality of Liechtenstein (Fürstentum Liechtenstein) is the worlds fourth smallest country with a population of 32,000 people and land area which is 15.3 miles long and 7.7 miles wide, approximately the size of Manhattan. The country is nestled between the Rhine River on one side which serves as a boundary with Switzerland and jagged mountains on the other which serve as a boundary with Austria. The population consider themselves to be totally separate from the Swiss although they share the same currency. To make the quirkiness of the tiny country complete, the country's main exports are false teeth and sausage casings.

I visited Liechtenstein in August of 2004. After witnessing the brilliant sunset the night before, I had decided to get up early to try to catch the morning light playing on the mountains. I walked past a farm and saw a small creak with mist around it in the coolness of the morning and knew that I had found my shot.
