During a trip to Norway in 2001, some friends of mine from university in Denmark and I decided to go on the Norway in a Nutshell tour. The tour includes transport on a train, bus and boat to give you a sampling of the fjords of Norway. It was a cold, November day made even more frigid by the hours on the deck of the boat. We were approaching dock in Flån when I saw these three boat houses at the side of the fjord. The boathouses are a striking image from this pretty, little town in the shadow of mountains and the glasslike surface of the fjord.
